Requirements

Assistant Teacher Overview:
Kids X-Cel is looking for Assistant Teachers who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young children. We are looking for individuals passionate about early childhood education and equipped with the skills to support students' growth and development.

Duties:
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and creativity
- Implement effective strategies for working with children with autism spectrum disorder
- Assess student performance and provide feedback to enhance their educational journey
- Collaborate with teachers, parents to address individual student needs
Experience:
- Prior experience in childcare or early childhood education
- Familiarity with childhood development stages and educational methodologies
- Knowledge in lesson planning and adapting curriculum to meet diverse learning styles
- Ability to work effectively with young children and create a supportive learning atmosphere
- Experience in working with students from various backgrounds and abilities

Kids X-Cel is seeking reliable, caring, and enthusiastic Substitute Teachers and Assistant Teachers to join our team! If you love working with children, enjoy flexible scheduling, and meet Minnesota DHS qualification requirements, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Substitute Teacher/Assistant Teacher, you will support classroom staff in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to Pre-K. This position is perfect for someone who wants occasional or flexible hours and enjoys making a positive difference in the lives of young learners.
Responsibilities

Assist in implementing daily classroom routines and learning activities.

Maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere for children.

Help supervise children to ensure safety and well-being at all times.

Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and staff.

Step into various classrooms as needed (infant, toddler, preschool, Pre-K).

Follow DHS licensing guidelines and center policies.

Required Qualifications (MN DHS)
Candidates must meet Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) requirements for one of the following roles:
Assistant Teacher:

At least 18 years old
-
Meets DHS rule requirements through education, experience, or a combination (e.g., child-related coursework, CDA, or qualifying experience)
Teacher (if qualified):

At least 18 years old

Meets DHS teacher qualifications through approved education and experience pathways
All candidates must:

Pass a DHS background study
-
Complete required training prior to working in the classroom (CPR/First Aid, SUID/AHT, etc.—we can assist with this!)
